Sensory 4 Dementia

Service Description

A group session for people with all stages of Dementia plus carers, family members and friends. This drop-in public session allows for individuals with all variations of Dementia to explore sensory therapy as well as offer opportunities for all to seek support and friendship in a safe, non-pressured, relaxing environment. Visitors are encouraged to bring items from home to help staff create personalised memory boxes to help with cognitive processing, recall ability and conversation skills. Friendly and caring projects staff will be on hand for a chat and hand hold plus tea and soft drink service! The last Thursday of every month beginning 25th January 11am-12pm Booking is preferred but walk ins are welcome. £5 per booking with carers/family members attending free of charge. Items available to use include -Music from different time eras plus ambient sound cds -Musical instruments -Picture scrapbooks -Fiddle blankets, weighted blankets and weighted toys & teddies -Fidget toys -Puzzles -Scented items & aromatherapy diffusers -Dementia friendly picture books -Simple crafts & colouring -Dominos, bingo and puzzles -Personalised memory boxes created with help from families and friends to be stored on site for each visit
